Nota Flux

Nota Flux has a small surface and a lot inside. An XY pad blends four timbre worlds; a handful of one-knob macros shape them; and React lets the synth listen to another track — a drum loop can make a pad breathe in rhythm.

Signal flow: vector (blend of four worlds) → oscillator (saw ↔ square ↔ noise, with a detuned twin) + sub → drive → low-pass filter → amp envelope → Space (a small stereo reverb and width).

The pad’s four corners are the worlds: Warm (soft saw), Glass (bright square), Moog (fat and resonant) and Grain (gritty, noisy). Drag the brass dot to blend them. Each world brings its own resonance, unison and drive, so moving the dot changes all of them at once — you never set them directly. A dashed teal ring shows where Motion and React are pulling the dot.

React turns another track’s sound into modulation — not a ducker, a source.

Control What it does
Source The track Flux listens to (No source = React off)
Listen How strongly it reacts
Target What it moves: Filter, Pitch, Space or Vector (the dot dances in rhythm)

The scope shows what Flux hears — envelope, transients, spectral tilt — beside the reaction.

Control What it does
Age Analog wear: drifting tune and a little hiss
Motion A slow, tempo-synced drift of the vector, with its rate
Filter Brightness
Env Envelope shape — from plucky to slow
Space Reverb and width
Glide · Tune · Gain Portamento, tuning, level

The status line reads the patch back in words — the world blend, or what React is doing.

25 factory presets: pads (Warm Drift, Velvet Pad, Grain Pad, Tape Choir, Slow Tide), basses (Moog Bass, Sub Pressure, Rubber Bass), leads (Moog Lead, Portamento Lead, Analog Brass), keys (Glass Keys, Glass Pluck, Crystal Bells, Night Keys), reactive patches (Reactive Vector, Filter Chase, Pumping Chords, Duck Space, Vector Dance, Pitch Wobble) and textures (Dust Drone, Grain Storm, Digital Rain, Broken Radio).

  • Pump without a compressor: pick the drum track as the React source, Target Filter — the pad opens and closes with the kick.
  • Automate the dot: Vector X and Y are parameters — draw them in the automation lane for a slow timbre journey.
