Separate Stems

Separate Stems pulls a mix apart into Drums, Bass, Other and Vocals. Remix a song, practise over it without the bass, sample a drum break, or turn a vocal into MIDI.

  1. Right-click an audio clip in the Arrangement ▸ Separate Stems…. The first time, Nota offers to download the htdemucs model.

  2. Wait for the progress window — a three-minute song takes well under a minute. Cancel stops it.

  3. A group of four tracks appears right under the clip’s track — Drums, Bass, Other, Vocals — each clip lined up with the original, warp, reverse, fades and ADSR included.

The original clip is switched off, not deleted, and the whole operation undoes in one step.
