Nota Shutter
Nota Shutter opens and closes a signal. As a gate it cleans up noise and bleed between hits; flipped, it ducks one sound under another; and its Pattern tab turns it into a rhythmic, tempo-synced gate you draw.

The gate
Section titled “The gate”The shutter opens when the level crosses the Threshold and closes when it falls back past the Return — the gap stops it chattering.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Threshold · Return | Open and close levels |
| Attack · Hold · Release | Shape each opening |
| Shape | Linear, Log (the classic) or Snap (stays open, then shuts hard) |
| Floor | How far the closed signal drops — −∞ mutes, higher leaves some through |
| Lookahead | Opens just before a transient |
| Flip | Turns the gate into a ducker |
| Retrigger | Every hit fires one attack → hold → release envelope (trigger mode) |
Envelope
Section titled “Envelope”

One opening drawn from attack, hold, release, shape and floor.
Sidechain
Section titled “Sidechain”The detector listens to this track or an External sidechain (another track), through its own band-pass Detector filter, with Listen to hear it and Peak hold. Key a gate from the kick to chop a pad; duck a bass under the kick.
Pattern
Section titled “Pattern”

A tempo-synced step pattern of gain — a rhythmic gate:
- Draw steps with Draw, Line, Erase and Flip on an 8, 16 or 32-step grid.
- Flip through pattern shapes, or roll a new one with the dice and Complexity.
- Smooth ramps into each step, Swing delays the off-steps.
- Rate runs from a quarter note to 4 bars in Sync (or 4 to 0.25 Hz in Free); Depth sets how far an empty step drops.
- A MIDI note on the track can restart the pattern; Gated plays it only while the threshold gate is open.
- Target: Volume (it gates the audio) or Map — the audio stays untouched and the pattern becomes a CV source for the Modular view.
Every step and pattern setting can be automated.
